The number of passengers who arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for September increased by 767.1 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year, the Ministry of Tourism announced on Monday.
There was 22 per cent drop in number of non-TRNC citizens arriving in the first nine months of this year.
While the number of non-TRNC citizens who arrived in the country via air and sea between the months of January and September in 2020 was 352,433, this figure dropped to 274,999 in 2021.
However, a significant increase was recorded for the month of September.
While 11,727 people had arrived in the September of 2020, this figure reached 101,684 in the same month of this year.
An increase was also recorded in occupancy rates at hotels and other tourism facilities in the first nine months of 2021.
There was a 24.2 percent occupancy rate this year compared to 20.2 last year.
