The leaders and representative of some Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot political parties came together in the buffer zone.

Some Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot party leaders and representatives met under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy in South Cyprus as part of routine meetings on Wednesday.

The meeting, hosted by the Greek Cypriot Green Party, took place at the Ledra Palace Hotel in the buffer zone in Lefkoşa.

It was noted that the issue of property in Cyprus was discussed at the request of the Green Party.

The Democrat Party did not approve the joint statement.

In the joint statement released after the meeting, it was recorded that the party representatives reached a consensus on encouraging the leaders of both communities to restart negotiations for a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue, within the framework of UN resolutions, EU acquis communautaire, and international law.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 23, under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy, with the participation of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus, Colin Stewart.

Colin Stewart will attend the meeting as a guest speaker.
