A delegation from the Konya Selçuk University is paying visits to state and government officials in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Within the framework of their visits they were received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Wednesday.
Speaking during the visit, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre said that Turkish Cypriots had arrived in Cyprus from Anatolia in 1571 and have continued their existence on the island since then preserving their culture and spirituality.
He also expressed the hope that the Turkish Cypriots will never again be orphaned and without a homeland as they were in 1878 when the island was ceded to the British.
Töre also said that Türkiye assisted Turkic states and the TRNC in all fields.
Touching upon the events that are taking place in Gaza, Töre said, “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s words that ‘the world is bigger than five,’ are more than enough and can be understood by all”.
