Statistics Institute announces cost of living for August as 8.14%

The cost of living for the month of August has been announced as 8.14 per cent.

The highest increase was realized in the health sector increasing by 12.50 per cent.

There was an increase of 11.53% in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.

A 10.12% increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages, 9.82% in transportation, 9.34% in restaurants and hotels, 7.04% in entertainment and culture, 6.44% in furniture, home appliances and home maintenance, 6.32% in miscellaneous goods and services, 4.82% in communication, 0.96% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 0.71% in education.

There was a 1.15% decrease in clothing and footwear.

Compared to the previous month, the average price of 589 items in the index increased while the average price of 26 items decreased.
