President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday emphasized the importance of a two-state solution in Cyprus.
Addressing troops serving at the Army Logistics Support Command in Dikmen, President Tatar said that the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces which was a continuation of the Turkish Resistance Organisation that had waged a struggle for freedom was the assurance of peace and stability in the country.
Regarding a settlement to the Cyprus Problem, Tatar said that any settlement to be reached in Cyprus had to be based on two sovereign and equal states that cooperated with one another.
He also said that the sovereign rights of the Turkish Cypriot people dated backed to the 1960 treaties and that Türkiye’s presence in Cyprus was vital for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people.
