Tatar: As a country, we are proud of Gezeravcı’s work in space

President Ersin Tatar met with Alper Gezeravcı, Türkiye’s first astronaut.

Tatar stated that as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, they are very proud of the work carried out by Gezeravcı in space.

President Ersin Tatar held a Skype call with Türkiye’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı and congratulated him for his work and wished him continued success.

During his meeting with Gezeravcı, Tatar stated that space studies carried out on behalf of the Republic of Türkiye are being followed with interest in the TRNC and that the country is proud of the success achieved.

He pointed out that in the second century of the Republic of Türkiye, founded by the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the doors of a new era will be opened in the studies to be carried out in space.

Tatar also emphasized that the images of Cyprus taken by Gezeravcı from space, once again reveals the importance of Cyprus for Türkiye.

Stating that space-related studies give hope to young people and that the achievements of Türkiye are welcomed with joy in the Turkic World, Tatar said, “Space studies pave the way for big projects. I hope we will take our place in the big projects realized by Türkiye”.

Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı stated that he hoped that the strong will of the Republic of Türkiye will be instrumental in opening the horizons of young people who are the future generations of the TRNC and the Republic of Türkiye.

Alper Gezeravcı wished that “the path that the two homelands will walk together will also be united in space”.
