Tatar attends environmental conference at NEU

President Ersin Tatar on Thursday highlighted the importance of taking measures to protect the environment and conserve the country’s water resources in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Water, 6th Environmental Conference held at Near East University (NEU)

In his speech, President Tatar pointed out that the steps to be taken are costly and challenging, but he underscored the duty to preserve the island of Cyprus and leave better conditions for future generations.

Addressing the audience, Tatar, warned that current generations were depleting the resources of future generations.

He emphasized the need to take significant measures to ensure sustainability and protect the environment in terms of water and energy issues.

President Tatar acknowledged the cost and challenges associated with these measures but emphasized that preserving the island’s environment and providing better conditions for future generations was everyone’s duty.

Highlighting the importance of efficient water use due to population growth and various developments, President Tatar mentioned the possibility of transferring renewable energy in Cyprus to the Greek Cypriot side following interconnectivity to be achieved with Türkiye.
