President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) attended the 2023-2024 academic year graduation ceremony at Süleyman Demirel University in Isparta.

The ceremony began with a wreath-laying at the Atatürk Monument in front of the governor’s office, followed by a moment of silence and the singing of the national anthem.

A procession, accompanied by a band, then moved to Atatürk Stadium.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Tatar praised the late Süleyman Demirel for his significant contributions to Türkiye, first as Prime Minister and later as President.

Tatar remarked, “Demirel always believed wholeheartedly in the Cyprus cause. He always regarded us as brothers who wrote an epic in Cyprus and had very good relations with our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş. He always facilitated the deepening of the ancient and sacred bonds between the Turkish Cypriot people and Türkiye.”

Addressing the graduates, Tatar emphasized the importance of being self-confident and trustworthy individuals to achieve success and happiness.

He highlighted the necessity of production and underscored the values of honesty and reliability.

“You are the future of the Republic of Türkiye, and you will work together for greater achievements,” he told the graduates.

Following the completion of his contacts in Isparta, President Tatar returned to the TRNC last night.
