President Ersin Tatar chaired the Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday.
Discussions and views were exchanged on a wide array of issues.
Tatar told the press after the meeting that stability in the country depended on the work carried out by the government.
On the Cyprus issue, the president reiterated that there will be no going back to the negotiating team before the Turkish Cypriot side’s vision for a two-state solution is accepted.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting which lasted for over two hours, President Ersin Tatar said that he had discussed and exchanged views on a number of issues with members of the cabinet, ranging from the economy, to the new Ercan airport terminal and runway, to plans to bring electricity from Türkiye.
He said that stability in the country depended on the work carried out by the government, adding that the public’s expectations were in this direction.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, President Ersin Tatar pointed out that the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Christodoulides was lobbying with EU member countries to resume the talks from where they left off.
“There will be no talks, no returning to the negotiating table until the Turkish Cypriot side’s new policy is accepted. Ankara fully supports this position,” he said.
Tatar also highlighted the importance of national unity as the country is preparing to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Turkish Peace Operation.
Regarding the economy, the president said that the country was struggling with price hikes due to the rise in the value of foreign currencies against the Turkish lira but that there was no room for despair.
“We emerged from a pandemic and then we had the February 6 earthquake in Türkiye. Our efforts to continue growing economically will continue,” he said.
