As part of his ongoing visit to Kyrgyzstan, President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday visited the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, which is financed by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and is under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Health.

During the visit, the hospital’s Chief Physician Dr. İlker Akar briefed President Tatar on the hospital.

Speaking here, President Tatar expressed his satisfaction at seeing the advanced facilities of the Türkiye-Kyrgyz Hospital and the support provided to the region, highlighting Türkiye’s advancements in the field of medicine, which are also reflected in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Tatar mentioned the importance Türkiye places on health, acknowledging the country’s progress in the last 20 years through various efforts and investments.

He praised Türkiye’s effective management of the pandemic in the TRNC, attributing it to the support provided by Türkiye in areas such as the construction of hospitals and supplying much needed medicines and vaccines.

Tatar also mentioned ongoing projects in the TRNC, including the construction of the new Girne and Güzelyurt Hospitals, the transfer of the military hospital to a new building, and the upcoming foundation laying for a 500-bed hospital in Lefkoşa.

Following the hospital visit, President Tatar visited the Kyrgyzstan Maarif College, established by the Turkish Maarif Foundation, where he gathered information about the education complex and interacted with students.

As part of his visit, he also paid a visit to the Ata-Beyit National History and Monument Complex in Bishkek, dedicated to intellectuals who were executed by the Russians.

He learned about the Ata Beyit Monument commemorating the “Ürkün Incident” that occurred 107 years ago in Kyrgyzstan and the monument for 138 Kyrgyz intellectuals executed in 1938.

Later, President Tatar visited the grave of the prominent Kyrgyz writer Cengiz Aytmatov and the area where the martyrs of April 7 are buried, offering prayers and laying flowers.

He also met with Kyrgyz citizens who graduated from TRNC universities and returned to their homeland.

In his speech, Tatar emphasized the TRNC’s role as an educational hub and noted the increasing number of Kyrgyz residents in the country.

President Tatar concluded his visit by meeting with Mehmet Davulcu, the TRNC Representative in Bishkek, to discuss assessments.

Speaking during the meeting, Tatar highlighted the significance of having TRNC representative offices worldwide as expressions of the country’s independence and ongoing efforts in those countries.

He emphasized the crucial role TRNC representations play in representing the country in international forums.

Tatar mentioned that many meetings under the umbrella of the Organization of Turkic States would take place in Kyrgyzstan, with representatives of TRNC institutions attending.

Drawing attention to the tourism potential in Cyprus, Tatar expressed optimism about the possibility of easy travel from Bishkek to the TRNC via Türkiye, suggesting the establishment of direct flights and expressing hope for TRNC-Kyrgyzstan flights to be realized through touchdown in Türkiye.
