Tatar continues contacts in Türkiye

President Ersin Tatar is continuing his contacts in Türkiye.

Tatar who was in Malatya, inaugurated an art exhibition and attended the opening ceremony of the Malatya İnonü University’s 2022-2023 Academic year.

The president who spoke at the ceremony said that sustaining a Turkic state in the Eastern Mediterranean was important for the future of the Turkish nation.

As part of his two-day visit to Türkiye, President Ersin Tatar held contacts in Malatya.

Opening an art exhibition on the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for existence made possible with the support of the Malatya Yeşilyurt Municipality, Tatar later attended the opening ceremony of the Malatya İnonü University’s 2022-2023 Academic year.

Delivering the academic semester’s first lecture in the form of a conference, President Ersin Tatar highlighted the importance of a Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean for the future of the Turkish nation.

He said that they had no other choice but to carry out the national cause in unity and solidarity.

Tatar pointed out that both the recent address made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in New York calling for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the admittance of the TRNC to the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) as an observer non-member were important milestones for the Turkish Cypriot side and its two-state policy on the Cyprus issue.

“Our path is the one for freedom and struggle. It is a path of unity with Türkiye,” he told the students and academic staff.

Tatar added that the TRNC with its institutions, universities and extensive commercial relations with dozens of countries was a real state.

Following his lecture, President Ersin Tatar was bestowed an honorary doctorate by the İnönü University’s Senate for his contributions to “Regional Peace and the Struggle for the Existence of the TRNC.”

As part of his other contacts in Malatya, President Ersin Tatar paid a visit to the family of Seçim Kılıçaslan who had been martyred during the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation.

President Ersin Tatar will be resuming his contacts on Friday in Adıyaman.
