President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received the representatives of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital Development Association.

Speaking during the meeting, the President said that the government had taken a decision regarding the maintenance and repair of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Lefkoşa State Hospital.

Receiving the President of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital Development Association, Dr. Hasan Birtan and other association officials, President Tatar pointed out that the government had produced a decision to undertake repair and maintenance work at the Lefkoşa State Hospital.

He said that he had received assurance from the Prime Minister Ünal Üstel that conditions at the hospital would be improved.

Referring to a project for a new 500-bed state hospital in Lefkoşa, which will be constructed in due time, Tatar underlined the importance of renovation, repair, and maintenance work for the Nalbantoğlu State Hospital until the new hospital is built.

Stressing the importance of supporting the hospital through social projects, the President congratulated the doctors for their efforts in both continuing their duties successfully and working on the hospital’s development.

The President of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital Development Association, Dr. Hasan Birtan, for his part stated that the Emergency Hospital was one of the key pillars that helped the health system stay operational after the fire that had broken out at the Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic and the pandemic itself.

Birtan also thanked President Tatar for his efforts in bringing the Emergency Hospital to fruition.
