President Ersin Tatar issued a statement regarding the declaration of  3-day national mourning in the TRNC for those who lost their lives in the attack on a hospital in Gaza on October 17.

The President said that the Turkish Cypriot people have experienced the same pains in history and therefore feel the pain of the massacres experienced in Palestine.

“The events that are taking place are incompatible with humanity. There can be no justification for massacring innocent children and civilians” said Tatar.

He added that as a result of their consultations with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, a three-day national mourning period has been declared.

“While remembering those who lost their lives with mercy, I convey my condolences to the grieving Palestinian people” said Tatar.
