President Ersin Tatar evaluated the Republic of Türkiye’s 100th anniversary to the Anadolu News Agency.
“Since 1923 Türkiye has never lost interest in Cyprus, it has never left the Turkish Cypriots alone” said Tatar.
The Republic of Türkiye is celebrating its 100th anniversary and the Anadolu Agency is preparing a news report on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
According to the report prepared by the agency, room was given to the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye in 1923 for the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on November 15, 1983, and the diplomatic efforts made by Türkiye for the Turkish Cypriots.
In a statement he made to the Anadolu Agency, President Ersin Tatar reminded that Türkiye will celebrate its 100th anniversary on October 29 and stated that the War of Independence and the subsequent revolutions led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk inspired the Turkish Cypriots to independence and eventually establish their own state.
Noting that Türkiye has continuously supported the Turkish Cypriots since the first years of the Republic, Tatar said, “Türkiye, since 1923 has never lost interest in Cyprus and has never left the Turkish Cypriots alone. We lived with the hope that one day a new era would begin and we would be together with Türkiye again”.
“Turkish Cypriots, who were the founding partners of the Republic of Cyprus, were expelled from the state administration at gunpoint in 1963. The Turkish Cypriot people resisted for 9 years until 1974 and then gained their own state with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1983. Without Türkiye’s support, we could not have achieved these successes” said Tatar.
Pointing out that since the first years of the Republic, Türkiye has always helped and supported the Turkish Cypriots in every field Tatar said that they are grateful to Türkiye for everything it has done for the Turkish Cypriot people.
Noting that they will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye as well as the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on November 15 and the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Peace Operation on July 20, Tatar said that they were very happy to be able to celebrate all anniversaries.
“On this occasion, I commemorate the martyrs and express my gratitude to our veterans. Happy 100th anniversary to our Republic” said Tatar.
