President Ersin Tatar flew to Bolu Türkiye on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
Tatar will be speaking at a panel titled “Rauf Raif Dentaş in the Turkish Cypriot National Struggle” and an unveiling ceremony of a statue of the founding president.
Tatar who came together with war veterans from Bolu also came together with the public at a gathering.
Speaking there, Tatar drew attention to the struggle they were giving to strengthen the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, despite all the injustices and embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.
Speaking at the meeting with war veterans from Bolu on Wednesday, President Ersin Tatar said, “If you have a state, a republic and if you can live independently and freely, this comes with a price, a price which we paid,” he said, adding that the TRNC was a success story.
Also addressing a publc gathering, Tatar said that they were trying to strengthen Turkish presense in Cyprs through economic and social policies.
He added that they were trying to strengthen the TRNC’s political, social and economic structure with the support of Türkiye despite all kinds of injustices, embargoes and isolations imposed by the world.
Tatar also said that the foundations of the TRNC, were laid with the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, paving the way for the creation of a Turkic state in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Emphasizing the importance of the bond that existed between Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people, Tatar quoted the late founding president Rauf Denktaş, “The recognition of Türkiye is far more important for us than being recognised by 100 other countries.”
Tatar said that it is important for the TRNC along with Türkiye to serve as guardians in the Eastern Mediterranean, where security was becoming more and more important by the day.
President Ersin Tatar and his accompanying delegation are expected to return to the Republic this evening.
