President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday visited the ongoing construction site of the Presidential Complex in Lefkoşa, emphasizing that with the completion of the complex, not only will state affairs be conducted, but also a place where the public can socialize will be established, contributing a significant monument to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

During his visit on Tuesday, President Tatar received information about the progress of the construction from the officials of the contracting company.

He was accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, the head of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office (KIA) Erol Öz, and officials from the Office of the President.

According to a statement issued from his office, Tatar, after the briefing, stated that construction of the new Presidential Complex which will also house the new Parliament and park covering 400 acres was progressing.

The complex he added was being financed by the Republic of Türkiye.

Emphasizing the coexistence of the legislative and executive branches, Tatar highlighted that with the establishment of a large complex with walking and recreational areas, as well as spaces for social activities, a significant monument will be added to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He also expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Metin Feyzioğlu for overseeing the work on behalf of the Republic of Türkiye and giving necessary instructions and also thanked the contracting company for their dedicated efforts.

Pointing out that the project serves as a significant symbol towards the recognition of the TRNC, President Tatar highlighted that it sends a strong message to the world regarding the will, independence, and self-governance capability of the Turkish Cypriots.

Tatar expressed his belief that while state affairs are conducted; the establishment of a space where the public can socialize will also contribute positively, indicating his confidence that the complex will bring blessings.

Highlighting the significance of the visit being conducted on April 23, the day when 104 years ago the Turkish Grand National Assembly was established and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted it to children as a holiday, Tatar said, “We are fortunate to visit the ongoing construction of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Parliament and Presidential Complex 104 years after the establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Here, we witness the representation of the national will. Important decisions will be made and meetings will be held in this complex.”

He said that the completion of the complex and the settlement is aimed to coincide with the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on November 15, 2024, emphasizing the intensified efforts and successful execution of the detailed project.
