President Ersin Tatar conducted an on-site review of the landscaping and environment-focused improvements underway at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Memorial, located in Republic Park.
The project is under the purview of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment.
During the visit, President Tatar was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, as well as other officials.
The project manager from Capiton Construction provided President Tatar with detailed updates on the project’s progress.
Following the inspection, President Tatar addressed the media, describing the project as “significant” and emphasizing the careful planning and sensitivity that has gone into its development.
He acknowledged the ongoing commitment of both the government and Deputy Prime Minister Ataoğlu to complete the memorial in a manner that befits the legacy and identity of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş.
“I am pleased to see the work advancing, especially with the 41st anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) approaching on November 15,” Tatar remarked.
He highlighted Denktaş’s monumental contributions to the Republic, noting that Denktaş remains a cherished figure in the hearts of Turkish Cypriots.
Tatar expressed hope that the site will soon be completed, allowing visitors from Türkiye, abroad, as well as residents and students, to visit and honour the memory and leadership of Denktaş.
He explained that Republic Park is envisioned as a memorial space open to the public, where visitors can reflect on Denktaş’s struggle and learn about the TRNC’s history through interpretative installations.
As he concluded, Tatar thanked all those involved in the project, noting the importance of adding this significant memorial to the cultural and historical assets of the TRNC.
