Tatar issues message on November 24 Teachers’ Day

President Ersin Tatar, who issued a message on the occasion of November 24 Teachers’ Day, said that it was of utmost importance for teachers who educate future generations, to understand the era we live in correctly and to communicate it to today’s youth.

Tatar expressed gratitude to all past and present teachers serving throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, extending his best wishes to all teachers on Teachers’ Day.

He noted that the world was in the age of information, experiencing significant technological advancements, and in such times, it was crucial to uphold one’s own values, rights, and interests. “Should we be stripped of our rights we will become subjects, falling under the influence of others,” he said.

In his message, President Tatar also emphasized the significant contribution of Turkish Cypriot teachers to the transformation of the Turkish Cypriot people from a community that was on the brink of being annihilated to a people with their own state.

“If we take pride in our human resources today, undoubtedly our teachers have a significant share in this. The struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people for freedom and sovereignty, which is of vital importance under the umbrella of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), continues,” he said.

Tatar reiterated that despite the calls for collaboration made to the Greek Cypriot side within the context of the policy based on sovereign equality and the international equal status, the uncompromising attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration persists.

He emphasized the great importance of teachers who educate future generations to understand and assess the era we live in correctly and to communicate it to today’s youth.

President Tatar concluded his message by expressing gratitude to all teachers serving throughout the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle to the present day and heartfelt wishes to all teachers on November 24th, Teachers’ Day.
