President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday issued a message congratulating the National Unity Party (UBP) on the 48th anniversary of its establishment.
In his message, he emphasized the undeniable role of the UBP in adopting and maintaining the new policy carried out in collaboration with Türkiye regarding the Cyprus issue as a national policy.
President Tatar said that the UBP, founded on October 11, 1975, has rendered significant services to the Turkish Cypriot people and has been involved in major projects.
“The UBP is a guardian of our democracy, committed to freedom, and devoted to our homeland, flag, nation, religion, and language, refusing to yield to Greek-Cypriot and Greek ambitions. I believe that, just as it has been in the past, the UBP will continue to be the leading force in the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriots in the future,” he said.
He added that the UBP, which he described as a cornerstone of the TRNC’s democracy and serves as the political expression of the TMT (Turkish Resistance Organization), has always worked for the existence and safety of the Turkish Cypriot people.
“It has been the party of dedicated individuals who believe in Türkiye’s national cause and the cause of Cyprus. The UBP has an undeniable role in cementing the new policy we have pursued in collaboration with Türkiye concerning the Cyprus issue, adopting it, and maintaining it as a national policy. On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the UBP, a party for which I have served as a Member of Parliament, Minister, Prime Minister, and as a UBP candidate elected as President, I wholeheartedly congratulate all my UBP brothers and sisters. I express my gratitude to those who have served the struggle of the Turkish Cypriots under this roof and remember with reverence those who are no longer with us,” he said.
