Tatar issues statement ahead of İsias trial

President Ersin Tatar, commenting on the Isias Hotel case, emphasized that his expectation is for the Turkish judiciary to do whatever is necessary for justice to prevail. Tatar also indicated that they will closely follow the Isias Case till the end.

President Ersin Tatar, highlighting that the Isias case is a common cause for the Turkish Cypriot people, said, “As the President, my expectation is for the Turkish judiciary to do what is necessary for justice to prevail.”

Speaking to TAK before the first hearing of the Isias trials, began on Wednesday, President Ersin Tatar said, “Almost a year has passed since the earthquake on February 6. We left 2023 behind with this great pain. This pain still continues. But our hope and expectations are for justice to prevail,” he said.

Tatar added that the country with all its authorities and institutions was following the case closely.

“As the President, I am also closely following the developments and the legal process. Since the moment we received the news of the earthquake, we have tried to do everything in our power. I wish we could have rescued our children and teachers from the rubble,” he said.

President Tatar, stating that both the images and the reports revealed how dilapidated and earthquake-prone the building was, said, “Our joy of living was taken away from us with the angels we lost in the February 6 earthquake. Our only expectation is for justice to prevail, which will be our consolation.”
