As part of the celebrations for the 49th anniversary of the National Unity Party (UBP), President Ersin Tatar issued a heartfelt message, emphasizing the party’s significant role in the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and its continued dedication to the nation’s cause.
In his statement, Tatar highlighted UBP’s historical roots, tracing back to its founding by the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT).
He expressed his deepest wishes for the party’s continued success: “I warmly congratulate the 49th anniversary of the National Unity Party, which has a deep-rooted place in the history of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle. I salute with respect all those who contributed to the founding and growth of UBP and remember those who have passed away with reverence. Founded on October 11, 1975, by our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş and his fellow comrades, UBP has led the Turkish Cypriot people’s fight for freedom and sovereignty, guiding the nation’s development within our parliamentary system and democratic framework. This esteemed party played a critical role in the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and continues its sacred mission with the same determination and perseverance today. The UBP, which remains a cornerstone of our political life and national cause, continues to fulfil its duties with success. It has been my honour to serve as UBP’s leader, as well as in various capacities as a Member of Parliament, minister, and prime minister. I am proud to have been nominated for the presidency by this honourable party, which played a significant role in my election by our people’s will. I sincerely hope that UBP will continue to achieve great success for many more years.”
