Tatar meets with political party representatives

President Ersin Tatar convened a meeting on Tuesday with the leaders and representatives of political parties represented in the Republic’s Assembly at the Presidential Palace.

The latest developments on the Cyprus issue were discussed during the meeting.

Participants at Tuesday’s meeting included the leader of the National Unity Party (UBP) and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, the leader of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman, the leader of the Democrat Party (DP), Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, as well as the leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı.

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu was also in attendance.

Returning from his visit to the United Kingdom earlier this morning, President Tatar was joined by his team comprising Undersecretary Okan Donangil, Special Representative Güneş Onar, Legal Affairs Advisor Sülen Karabacak, and Coordinator for Confidence-Building Measures and Bilateral Technical Committees Seniha Birand Çınar.

Later on Tuesday afternoon, President Ersin Tatar received the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus and head of UNFICYP Colin Stewart.

Stewart had been received a day earlier by the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Christodoulides.
