President Ersin Tatar has said that the games being played by the Greek Cypriot side could be clearly seen and that the Greek Cypriots do not see Turkish Cypriots as their equals.

He said that the so-called Republic of Cyprus has been transformed into a Greek Republic.

The president was speaking during a visit paid to him on Tuesday by the Beşparmak Think-Tank group.

Reminding that 50 years of negotiations failed to achieve a federal-based solution in Cyprus, Tatar said that the game that was being played in Cyprus was now clear, that the Greek Cypriots did not see Turkish Cypriots as their equals and that the once partnership Republic of Cyprus had now become a Greek Cypriot state.

He said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with the support of Türkiye had achieved great strides over the past 50 years towards achieving international recognition such as becoming an observer member to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).

President Tatar also explained how the TRNC’s ministers represented the country at various international meetings under the TRNC flag and expressed hope for new opportunities for the future.

President Tatar also emphasized the importance of preserving economic values and stated that the development of the tourism, industry, and service sectors was crucial.

Addressing Turkish Cypriots living abroad, President Tatar said, “Let us always support Turkish Cypriots. Our common homeland, the TRNC, will continue its path successfully.”

Tatar also noted the importance of the TRNC within the context of developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Highlighting the significance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s historic message calling for the recognition of the TRNC at the United Nations General Assembly, President Tatar thanked the Republic of Türkiye for its support to the Turkish Cypriot people.
