President Ersin Tatar received the Head of the Cyprus Turkish Journalists Association Reşat Akar and members of its board of directors.

Speaking during the visit the President said that problems in the world of media will be resolved as soon as possible through legal regulations.

“It is my wish that the Turkish Cypriot press can maintain its structure with its newspapers and social media in an orderly manner with its respected publications” said Tatar.

Giving his views regarding the opening of the Haspolat gate, President Tatar stated that the problems at the Metehan gate will decrease with the opening of the Haspolat gate.

Stating that they have taken initiatives on this issue, Tatar said that although there are different opinions, he believes that by eliminating deficiencies, an environment in which various services will be provided in the TRNC will be created.

Touching upon the new policy in the TRNC Tatar said that “When we evaluate the latest developments in the TRNC, a new policy is currently being followed. It is very important for us that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed their support for our two-state policy during their visit to the TRNC.”

“We have told the whole world that our sovereign equality can lead to an agreement with the recognition of our equal status. We have instigated a variety of initiatives so that the TRNC authorities can be addressed. We are planning to establish joint committees with the support of Türkiye” he added.
