President Ersin Tatar received the Director-General for Structural Reform Support at the European Commission, Mario Nava, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday.
According to the statement from the Office of the President, the meeting addressed cooperation proposals conveyed by President Tatar to the Greek Cypriot side through the United Nations Secretary-General, a proposal to alleviate congestion at the Metehan Border Crossing and open a new crossing point at Haspolat, which will be dedicated solely to economic and commercial activities.
Additionally, discussions involved efforts towards enabling bank transfers between the two sides, conducting pre-feasibility studies for the establishment of a solar energy plant in the buffer zone, overcoming trade issues between the two sides, and combating yield losses in agricultural products.
Furthermore, the enhancement of bilateral relations between the EU and the TRNC was also discussed during the meeting.
