Tatar receives police chief and deputies

President Ersin Tatar on Monday received the Chief of Police Kasım Kuni, his 1st Deputy Ali Adalıer, and 2nd Deputy Kaan Resa Saçar.

According to the statement released from the Office of the President, Tatar wished success to Kuni who was recently appointed as head of Police.

He also said that the police force was an esteemed institution that was vital for public order and security serving as a part of the country’s public order and security.

“It is with great pride that we all witness how our police officers carry out their profession with great experience and dedication,” he said, expressing his hope for further strengthening of the police force.

Highlighting the importance of the police academy and police training, President Tatar emphasized the necessity of lifelong training within the force to keep up with advancements in technology as well as adapt to changing conditions.

Tatar also touched upon the importance of addressing the outstanding problems and shortcomings experienced by the police force.

Pointing out that the country’s growing population brought with it new problems and challenges, the president praised the police force for the new measures taken to keep the public safe.

“We have recently seen the police force stepping up its inspections and controls particularly in regard to traffic. These deterring measures are all positive steps in preventing traffic accidents which have become a major issue in the country,” he added.

Tatar also said that the police had a significant role in combating substance addiction and drug trafficking.

Reiterating his wish for the police to successfully fulfil their duties in ensuring the public’s tranquillity, peace, and security, President Tatar wished success to the newly appointed police deputies.

The Chief of Police Kasım Kuni also thanked President Tatar for his efforts regarding the formation of the cadre, stating that the police force will continue to provide service 24/7 to ensure the public’s peace and security.

Also receiving the police commanders, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre said that the police worked tirelessly 24/7, 365 days a year.

Töre pointed out that despite strict controls by the police, driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding remain the leading causes of traffic accidents.

He also noted that another issue in the country is the undocumented economy.

Töre underlined the importance of not undermining the Police Organization and stated that they would do their part in boosting the morale and motivation of law enforcement officers.

He acknowledged the shortage of both vehicles and personnel within the police force and emphasized the urgent need to address these deficiencies.

Highlighting that the police are indispensable for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Töre wished success to all law enforcement personnel.
