Tatar receives President of Tr. Red Crescent

President Ersin Tatar received the President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, and her accompanying delegation on Wednesday.

The Chairman of the North Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent, Sezai Sezen, and the General Secretary Hasan Karaokçu were also present at the meeting.

Stressing that the Turkish Red Crescent had always been there for the Turkish Cypriots during difficult times, Tatar referred to the significant collaboration between the Turkish Red Crescent and the Red Crescent in Cyprus for the Turkish Cypriots who had to live in tents during the years of struggle.

Noting that the Turkish Red Crescent regularly organized blood donation campaigns in the TRNC and provided iftar (fast breaking) meals during the holy month of Ramadan, he underlined the importance of the Red Crescent in Cyprus being strong and prepared at all times for potential natural disasters and unforeseen events.

Pointing to the importance of resource generation, uniting strengths, and forming effective teams, the President noted that the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent was always ready for duty and collaboration for the betterment of humanity, anywhere in the world.

Reminding that the TRNC had taken its place within the Organization of Turkic Council, Tatar stressed that alongside these countries, it was important for the Red Crescent to strengthen its presence in organizations like the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other countries.

The President also added that the TRNC was ready to participate in such efforts with its institutions.
