Tatar receives students from Ahmet Yesevi University

President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received students and representatives of collaborating institutions participating in the Ahmet Yesevi University Yesevi-Turkology Summer School 2023 project.

The university is based in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan.

Receiving students and representatives of collaborating institutions participating in the Ahmet Yesevi University Yesevi-Turkology Summer School 2023 project on Tuesday, President Tatar highlighted that the university has amplified the voice of Kazakhstan to the world.

He emphasized that through their efforts, the cultural heritage of the Turkic World is being safeguarded with the support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and institutions in Türkiye.

Tatar emphasized the importance of nurturing the younger generations to preserve institutional memories and uphold national and spiritual values.

He thanked the youth for their sacred mission and the efforts they put forth.

The TRNC president pointed out that despite the unjust restrictions, obstacles and isolations being imposed, the TRNC, as a part of the Turkic World, continued on its independent path with the support of the Republic of Türkiye.

Also speaking, Metin Feyzioğlu, the Turkish Ambassador of Lefkoşa said that Turkish Cypriots have upheld their Turkish identity throughout the century despite imperial pressure.

Ambassador Feyzioğlu emphasized that no one should attempt to teach the concepts of homeland and nation to the Turkish Cypriots, who have not given up on their national struggle despite being subjected to genocide.

Feyzioğlu also conveyed the importance of remembering the past to walk towards the future.

He described Ahmet Yesevi University as a university of a great cause and the “red apple” (symbol of excellence), where students gain significant richness within the broader Turkic World.

Prof. Dr Muhittin Şimşek, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ahmet Yesevi University, noted that the university hosts students from 40 Turkish states and related communities, and through the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa, 18 Turkish Cypriot students have been accommodated.

He explained that Turkish Cypriots excel in activities, showcasing their diligence.

Şimşek also highlighted that they provide scholarships and accommodation opportunities for Turkish Cypriot students who aspire to study at the university.
