Tatar receives Turkish naval cadets and commanders

Cadets and commanders from the Turkish Navy who are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to take part in the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations were received on Tuesday by President Ersin Tatar.

Receiving the delegation, President Tatar said that they will continue to defend the legitimate rights and interests of Türkiye and the TRNC in the Blue Homeland under all circumstances.

Naval Academy Training Flotilla Commander Naval Colonel Volkan Salih Eser, the Commander of TCG Bayraktar Naval Colonel Lütfü Sezgin, Commander of TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa Naval Lieutenant Commander Alper Çekiç, Cadet Delegation Commander Naval Lieutenant Osman Serdar Ayyıldız, and Naval Academy cadets are in the TRNC to share the enthusiasm of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.

The delegation was received separately by President Ersin Tatar and Speaker of the Republic Assembly Zorlu Töre on Tuesday.

Speaking during the visit, Naval Academy Training Flotilla Commander Naval Colonel Volkan Salih Eser said they were on an educational trip due to the July 20th Peace and Freedom Day.

President Ersin Tatar for his part expressed his happiness from seeing the Naval Academy cadets and commanders in the TRNC.

Tatar highlighted the significance of the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation, stating that Turkish Cypriots were saved from genocide and gained their independence as a result of Türkiye’s timely intervention.

President Tatar stressed the importance of a strong Turkish navy in protecting the rights, justice, and interests of Türkiye and the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean.
