President Ersin Tatar has said that the Turkish Cypriot side’s new two-state policy, which upholds the inherent rights of Turkish Cypriots, their equal international status, and sovereign equality, was gaining international recognition with the support of Türkiye.

Tatar also stressed that with the implementation of this new policy, the status of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had been elevated, and the TRNC will continue its development in all areas.

President Ersin Tatar, in his speech during a visit paid to him by a delegation from the Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions of Türkiye on Thursday, expressed his condolences for the Turkish citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster in Türkiye.

He also expressed his belief that the wounds of the earthquake will be healed as soon as possible.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation between institutions and organizations in the TRNC and those in Türkiye, Tatar underlined the significance of this cooperation in strengthening the ties between the two peoples.

Touching upon the measures taken during the pandemic, the President noted that with the support of Türkiye, the difficulties faced during this period could be overcome.

He also added that timely measures led to significant developments in various areas, including the economy and healthcare.

President Tatar also addressed the Cyprus issue during the meeting.

Stressing that the new two-state policy, which upholds the legitimate rights of Turkish Cypriots, their equal international status, and sovereign equality was beginning to gain international recognition with the support of Türkiye, Tatar said that the status of the TRNC had been elevated through changing geopolitical developments and the pursued new policy, adding that the TRNC will continue its development in all areas.
