President Ersin Tatar on Monday received separately members of the Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society, war veterans from İzmir and the TRNC-Malatya Culture Society.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue during the visits, Tatar stressed that there were two peoples and two sovereign equal states in Cyprus.
Receiving the head of the Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society Orhan Hasanoğlu and his accompanying delegation first, the president said that he had found the opportunity to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart İlham Aliyev during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s inauguration ceremony in Ankara.
He said that the positive relations between Ankara and Baku had also reflected positively on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
“We continue to embrace the policy and vision of one nation three states. We as the TRNC are the representative of the Turkic world in the Eastern Mediterranean,” Tatar said, expressing the view that relations with Azerbaijan and the TRNC will continue to develop.
Also receiving war veterans from İzmir and the TRNC-Malatya Culture Society later on, President Ersin Tatar said that that there were two peoples and two sovereign equal states in Cyprus..
He also said that it was out of the question for the Turkish Cypriot people to abandon Türkiye’s guarantees or accept the withdrawal of the Turkish Armed Forces from the island.
