President Ersin Tatar delivered important messages regarding the Cyprus issue.

He emphasized that regardless of whether the TRNC is recognized or not, it is a reality, stating, “If there is to be an agreement, the TRNC will be part of it.”

President Ersin Tatar, speaking at a commemoration event, noted that more than 50 years of negotiations on a federal basis have resulted in wasted time, despite the goodwill of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He also mentioned that the TRNC has become an observer member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and subsequently the Turkic Council, indicating that the status of the TRNC is increasing every passing day.

“The TRNC is now a reality, whether they recognize it or not. After 60 years, we will never accept the elimination of the authority here and being patched up elsewhere, ” he said.

President Ersin Tatar underscored that if there is to be an agreement in Cyprus, the TRNC state must be part of it.

“With this status, our demand from the international community right now is that ‘If there is to be an agreement, the TRNC state will be part of it. Otherwise, we will not sit at the negotiation table.’ And for three years, Türkiye has been giving its full support to this struggle,” he said, adding that there was no going back from the current two-state policy.

Tatar also emphasized that “zero soldiers, zero guarantees” would not be acceptable to the Turkish Cypriots and Türkiye.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people will live forever independent and free, Tatar pointed out that mainland Türkiye was only 40 miles away from the TRNC.

“Homeland, motherland, Blue Homeland. This trio will walk into the future with more confident steps together. And in the future, the Turkish Cypriot people will seize much more prosperous and affluent tomorrows,” he added.
