President Ersin Tatar has said that the struggle against the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo’s plans over the island of Cyprus will continue.

“We are stressing at every opportunity that there will be no federal settlement in Cyprus,” he said.

The president’s words came during his address at the 2nd International Haematology, Oncology and Genetics Congress being held in Bafra.

Delivering a speech at the opening of the 2nd International Haematology, Oncology and Genetics Congress being held at the Concorde Hotel in Bafra, President Ersin Tatar said that the Turkish Cypriot people had experienced great suffering and subjected to ethnic cleansing in the past.

“We now have our own state which we are trying to promote to the world,” he said.

Pointing out that the Turkish Cypriot people saw themselves as an indispensible part of the Turkish nation and that their struggle against the Greek-Greek Cypriot’s schemes will continue, President Ersin Tatar drew attention to the pressure exerted by the international community on the Turkish Cypriot side.

“They want us to join the European Union under the roof of the so-called Republic of Cyprus, thus breaking us off from Anatolia and our motherland Türkiye. This is something which we will never accept. We are stressing at every opportunity that a federal settlement will not be happening in Cyprus,” he added.

The president also said that they were trying to strengthen the country’s economic structure through water and electricity projects.

He added that the TRNC had passed an important test during the pandemic with flying colours.

“We showed the whole world that we are a state, with our health system and our doctors. Our efforts in that direction are continuing,” Tatar said.

The president wrapped up his words by pointing out that Cyprus was becoming a centre of attraction for investors as well as young people who enrolled in the country’s universities for high quality higher education.
