President Ersin Tatar on Sunday toured the western part of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, visiting the Güzelyurt Industrial Zone as well as coming together with the inhabitants of Yeşilırmak.

Speaking during the visits, the president said that work in the west as well as measures taken to address the problems experienced in the region will continue.

President Ersin Tatar came together with local residents of Güzelyurt and Yeşilırmak on Sunday, exchanging views with inhabitants, shopkeepers and business owners as well as strawberry producers.

Speaking at the Cyprus TMT Freedom Fighters’ Association’s Branch in Yeşilırmak, Tatar said that the state had mobilized all its means two weeks ago to put out a forest fire in the area.

He said that it was important to remain vigilant against forest and bushfires with the arrival of the dry and hot summer months.

Tatar also drew attention to the importance of using technology in battling such fires, giving the example of the use of drones to monitor the situation from the air.

Regarding strawberry production in Yeşilırmak, the president said that demand for strawberries had grown over the years which made it necessary for the state to offer more incentives to farmers.

As part of his tour, President Ersin Tatar also visited the Yeşılırmak crossing point, inspecting the use of the western most crossing point in the TRNC.
