President Ersin Tatar, reminding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call at the UN General Assembly to “recognize the TRNC” and his statement that “the federal solution is over,” said, “The issue of a federal solution in Cyprus is now closed.”
Tatar stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be an absolute part of any possible agreement.
President Ersin Tatar, ahead of an informal dinner on October 15 with the Greek Cypriot leader and the UN Secretary-General, delivered important messages during the Rebirth Party (YDP) celebration.
Stressing that his sole purpose throughout his four-year term had been to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the President stated that he raised this issue in every international contact.
Thanking the YDP for its decision to support the Cyprus issue, Tatar reiterated that the TRNC will be an essential part of any potential agreement.
Noting that the processes of federal negotiations were now a thing of the past, he reminded that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared at the UN General Assembly that “the federal solution process was over,” stating, “the issue is closed.”
“In every international contact, I have looked UN and EU officials straight in the eye and said that the TRNC is an independent state” President Tatar added.
