Tatar wraps up his contacts in Baku

President Ersin Tatar continued his meetings in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, today.

As part of his contacts, Tatar separately received associations, civil society organizations, and businesspeople in Azerbaijan this morning.

Speaking at the meetings held at the TRNC Representation in Baku, President Tatar said that the physical distance between their respective countries did not matter.

Highlighting the significance of more tourists and students coming to the TRNC from Azerbaijan, Tatar stressed, “As the people of the same nation, our closeness and commitment are important values.”

Tatar noted that they had come to Baku with a strong delegation from the TRNC and were working to promote TRNC culture through various events, underscoring the importance of increasing such promotions.

He also mentioned that Azerbaijani parliamentarians, tourism professionals, and women’s organizations occasionally visit the TRNC and that relations between the two countries have improved significantly compared to the past.

President Tatar also mentioned his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, stating that his Azeri counterpart had expressed his ongoing support for the TRNC alongside the Turkic world.

Tatar emphasized that the unity and solidarity of the Turkic world forming a front together would be beneficial for everyone, highlighting the crucial role of the Republic of Türkiye in this context.

He said that Türkiye was on the verge of entering a new century and expressed his belief that with Turkish President Erdogan’s vision, Türkiye would become even stronger in its second century.

Tatar also stressed the importance of the friendship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, highlighting the significance of reviving the Silk Road and developing trade via land routes.

He stated that in the Eastern Mediterranean, unity is essential, and as a Turkic state, the TRNC guarantees the security of all activities related to natural gas, energy, and trade.

Tatar emphasized that the TRNC’s sovereignty and jurisdiction also cover the Eastern Mediterranean, and underlined the importance of acting together for the future significance of activities in the Blue Homeland.

He noted that Turkic states in the existing geography complement each other and mentioned the strategic and economic benefits of acting together.

Tatar expressed his strong belief that President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that the TRNC flag will always fly in Azerbaijan will make the TRNC’s presence increasingly visible on the international stage in a very short time and expressed his full confidence that recognition will be achieved in the near future.

Regarding the Cyprus issue, President Ersin Tatar emphasized that a two-state solution is vital for the TRNC.

As part of his contacts in Baku, President Tatar also gave interviews to Anadolu Agency and the Azerbaijani State News Agency Azertac.

President Ersin Tatar and his delegation are expected to return to the island tonight.
