Within the framework of bi-communal meetings held under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy, some Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot political party representatives came together at the Ledra Palace Hotel on Wednesday.

The meeting emphasized that a peaceful solution in Cyprus could be achieved through cooperation between the two communities.

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, it was noted that today’s session, hosted by the Democrat Party, focused on the proposal to establish a “Bi-Communal Committee on Environment, Climate Change, and Emergency Response.”

Reminding that during the expanded informal meeting in Geneva, a decision was made for bilateral cooperation, including projects on the environment and solar energy, the statement stressed that cooperation was essential for both communities to address common environmental threats.

Also expressing satisfaction with the decision to appoint the UN Secretary-General’s new personal representative and the consensus reached in Geneva on confidence-building measures, the statement urged the leaders to implement these measures gradually and reiterated that a peaceful solution in Cyprus could be achieved through cooperation between the two communities.
