The Türkiye-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group delegation has been holding contacts in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Within the framework of their contacts, they were received by the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre.

Speaking during the visit, Töre pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot people are an inseparable part of the Turkish nation and underlined that the independent TRNC state and the republic are indispensable.

The Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Orhan Erdem stated that they had closely followed the sacrifices made by the TRNC on the Cyprus issue for years and said that they support the new policy on Cyprus which is two independent sovereign states.

Once the visit was completed, they moved on to a working meeting which was held between the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the head of the TRNC-Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship group Resmiye Canaltay stated that the meeting will have beneficial results and will significantly contribute towards reaching a brighter future.

Underlining that the Turkish Cypriot people have always been a society that struggles, Canaltay emphasized that even though there are problems; they will not give up on the TRNC state and will always continue to struggle together with Türkiye for the TRNC to take its rightful place in the world.

The Chairman of the Türkiye- TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Orhan Erdem for his part noted that joint efforts will continue for the promotion of the TRNC and pointed out that a permanent, fair and sustainable solution can be achieved by recognizing the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriots.
