The Social Democratic Party (TDP) Assembly, which convened last night with the agenda of the Presidential election, granted full authority to Party leader Zeki Çeler and the Central Executive Committee to determine a candidate for the 2025 Presidential election.
In a statement by the Social Democratic Party (TDP), it was noted that during the party assembly meeting—attended in its first segment by 4th President Mustafa Akıncı—a unanimous decision was made in the second segment to delegate full authority to party leader Zeki Çeler and the Central Executive Committee regarding the Presidential election.
The statement stressed, “The TDP, which has pursued social struggle with principled consistency and absolute determination for nearly half a century, has tasked its leader and the Central Executive Board with necessary preparations to enter the 2025 Presidential election with a visionary and capable candidate who resonates strongly with society and meets the leadership needs of the people.”
Stressing the importance of a participatory process that considers the views and tendencies of party members and the public, the Party Assembly decision noted that the MYK was authorized to conduct all necessary technical and political efforts in this context.
The statement concluded by stating that the results of the Central Executive Board work would be reviewed and evaluated by the Party Assembly, after which the party’s final decision would be announced to the public.
