TGNA’s and TRNC parliament’s foreign affairs committee meet

The delegation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, met with the Republic’s Assembly’s Committee on Law, Political Affairs, and Foreign Relations as part of its contacts in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The meeting of the two delegations which took part at the TRNC parliament was co-chaired by the head of the Turkish delegation, Justice and Development Party MP Fuat Oktay, and the chairwoman of the Republic Assembly’s Committee on Law, Political Affairs, and Foreign Relations, Yasemin Öztürk.

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, the National Unity Party (UBP) Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Deputy Armağan Candan, and parliamentary bureaucrats were also present at the meeting.

Speaking before the meeting, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, Committee Chairwoman Yasemin Öztürk, and Committee Chairman Fuat Oktay made statements to the press.

Töre in his remarks said that there was a “national” and “nationalist” policy pursued in conjunction with Türkiye, emphasizing the importance of making joint decisions, determining common goals, and conducting work accordingly.

Committee Chairman Yasemin Öztürk also expressed that Türkiye has always been by the side of the TRNC, continues to support it, and that this support is “very important”.

Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Fuat Oktay for his part said, “A strong Türkiye is important for a strong Organization of Turkic States and a strong TRNC, but more importantly, we have seen together how important a strong Türkiye is for regional and global peace… But even more importantly, our cooperation in all areas between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Türkiye will truly enhance this strength.”
