The 6th “Cultures’ Fusion” event, organized by İskele Municipality, showcased vibrant scenes this year.
Speaking at the event, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu noted that people of different backgrounds and cultures live in harmony in İskele.
“As members of a nation that knows how to share, I attribute our beauty to our ability to approach people without discriminating based on language, religion, race, or colour. Today, our İskele is home to a wide variety of cultures from numerous countries” Sadıkoğlu said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu also stressed the importance of preserving cultures and thanked the organizers of the event.
Ataoğlu mentioned that they supported all efforts aimed at passing cultural heritage on to future generations.
President Ersin Tatar, who also attended the event, stressed that İskele had been introduced to the world through international projects.
“Those who think they can bring us to our knees with the oppressive elements of South Cyprus are greatly mistaken” President Tatar said, and he also expressed his deep sorrow over the events in Gaza and Lebanon.
Highlighting the importance of an independent and free Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean, Tatar noted that various countries trust the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with many choosing to live here and send their children to local schools.
The event, which continued throughout the day, featured stands representing different cultures from various countries, offering traditional foods, beverages, and souvenirs for sale.
