A Memorial Night was organized on Wednesday to commemorate the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College (GTMK) students, families and teachers who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake, in Türkiye.
The Champion Angels Memorial Night was organized at the Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Hall and Broadcast live on BRT1.
The traditional championship cups were presented to the GTMK Principle Savaş Moral and the head of the parent-teacher association Osman Akın who lost two of his kids in the earthquake following one-set matches between the 11th Rauf Raif Denktaş Cup finalists the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and the Vakıflar teams.
The 11th Rauf Raif Denktaş Cup will be on display at the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College Museum.
President Ersin Tatar presented the EMU’s Men’s team with a trophy while the Vakıflar Women’s Cup was presented by Ender Vangöl Denktaş, the daughter of the late founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş.
President Ersin Tatar, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, the leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre and Sertaç Bozatlı from the Sports Department all shared their heartfelt feelings to BRT correspondents.
