The Statistics Institute announced the cost of living rate for December as 1.10%.
The annual cost of living increase for 2024 was 53.29%.
According to the “Consumer Price Index Results for December 2024 Based on the Base Year” report published by the Statistics Institute, inflation in December was 1.10%. Compared to December of the previous year, there was a 53.29% change.
The three goods or services that experienced the highest price increases in December were zucchini with a 171.22% increase, artichoke with a 154.38% increase, and eggplant with a 107.87% increase.
The highest price decreases were seen in parsley with a 36.42% decrease, cauliflower with a 35.94% decrease, and broccoli with a 35.81% decrease.”
Among major expenditure groups, the highest monthly increase was in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, at 2.49%.
In the “various goods and services” group, an increase of 2.23 percent, in the “clothing and footwear” group, an increase of 2.03 percent, in the “restaurants and hotels” group, an increase of 1.42 percent, in the “furniture, household appliances and home maintenance services” group, an increase of 1.08 percent, in the “health” group, an increase of 1.08 percent, in the “communication” group, an increase of 0.99 percent, in the “entertainment and culture” group, an increase of 0.58 percent, in the “transportation” group, an increase of 0.43 percent, in the “housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” group, an increase of 0.32 percent, in the “alcoholic beverages and tobacco” group, an increase of 0.18 percent, and in the “education” group, an increase of 0.08 percent occurred.
Among the 430 item types covered in the index, price increases occurred in the average prices of 128 item types, while price decreases occurred in the average prices of other item types in the previous month.
