The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Zorlu Töre has issued a message to commemorate the first commander of the Turkish Resistance Organisation (TMT) Colonel Ali Rıza Vuruşkan on the 44th anniversary of his death.
He pointed out that Colonel Vuruşkan had played an important role in the organisation of the TMT, the requirement of its members and their training.
“The brave retired colonel who also fought in the battle of Erenköy had made great contributions to our resistance and struggle for existence,” said Töre, adding that the TMT spirit will continue to serve as a guide for the Turkish Cypriot people.
He added that commander Vuruşkan’s services will never be forgotten.
