Töre draws attention to strong bond between Turkic states

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Tuesday received Türkiye’s Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç, and Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner, Sabina Aliyeva who are on an official visit to to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Welcoming the ombudspersons, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre Töre emphasized the everlasting brotherhood between Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). He highlighted the significance of the formation of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), stressing the crucial role of collaboration among ombudsmen from these nations.

“The cooperation among Turkic states is imperative. The expression ‘Ne Mutlu Türküm’ (How happy is the one who says I am a Turk) embodies the consciousness and honour of being a member of the Turkish Nation,” Töre said.

Türkiye’s Chief Ombudsman, Şeref Malkoç for his part addressed the injustices faced by the people of the TRNC over the years.

He advocated for a deliberate yet swift approach to rectify the injustices of the past forty years, emphasizing the importance of institutional solidarity, dialogue, and information sharing.

Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner, Sabina Aliyeva, expressed pride in the support received from the Turkish Nation during the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation.

She discussed the ongoing challenges in Azerbaijan, highlighting the plight of 4,000 missing women and children.

Aliyeva presented a report on this issue to Parliamentary Speaker Töre, underscoring the need for continued support and awareness.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening ties and cooperation among Turkish states, ensuring that their shared values and mutual support continue to thrive.
