The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre exchanged New Year wishes with his Turkish counterpart Prof. Dr Mustafa Şentop on Monday.
Speaking with Şentop over the phone, Töre said that they will continue their efforts with the support of Türkiye for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
According to a press release from the Republic’s Assembly, Töre expressed his wish that 2023 will mark the beginning of the Turkish century. He pointed out that while the TRNC was preparing to mark the 40th anniversary of its establishment, the Republic of Türkiye was preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
He noted that the observer membership granted to the TRNC by the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was a very important step taken in 2022 and that they will continue their efforts for the recognition of the TRNC with the support of Türkiye.
