Töre in Istanbul for 50th anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre is in Istanbul to participate in an event organized by the Anatolian Unifying and Industrialist Business Association marking the 50th anniversary of the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation.

Töre began his visit by meeting with the TRNC Consulate General in Istanbul.

Speaking there, the TRNC parliamentary speaker emphasized his country’s unwavering commitment to defending the state and republic, asserting that they would never sacrifice the gains made from the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation.

He recalled that July 20 brought freedom and security to the Turkish Cypriots and noted that they have enjoyed peace since 1974.

Töre stressed that the peace and stability provided by Türkiye and the Turkish army in Cyprus would be preserved eternally.

He mentioned that both the Turkish Cypriot resistance fighters and Turkish soldiers would continue to guard the interests of the Turkish nation.

Töre also highlighted the presence of many Turkish Cypriots living in Istanbul, stating, “Wherever we live, we should contribute to the existence of the TRNC.”
