Töre in Istanbul

The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre is in Istanbul, Türkiye to attend the 5th Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform Conference.

Within the scope of his Istanbul visit, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant General Sezai Öztürk, who previously served as the Commander of the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus and is currently serving as the Commander of the 1st  Army 3rd Corps in Istanbul.

Töre also visited the Istanbul Governor Davut Gül as part of his contacts.

Signing the special book of the Governorate, Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that he was happy to be in Istanbul, the relic of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, and to visit the governorship.

Stating that Istanbul is the apple of Türkiye’s and the Turkish world’s eye, Töre said, “Even though we live in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), our eyes and ears are in Türkiye.”

At the end of his visit, Töre asked the Turkish youth to protect the legacy of Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Atatürk.

Davut Gül, Governor of Istanbul, said that he spent the first years of his youth as a university student in the TRNC and considered the country his homeland.

He expressed the hope that the future of the TRNC will be more beautiful than today.
