The Speaker of Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre issued a written message on Sunday on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the Gaziveren and Çamlıköy Resistance.
In his message, the Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre reminded that the martyrs had fallen during the defence of Gaziveren and Çamlıköy against the attacks carried out by the Greek Cypriots with the aim of transforming Cyprus into a Greek island.
“We will never forget those days or our martyrs, we will never let them be forgotten,” he said.
Töre said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be preserved and protected forever.
“We will preserve our state, freedom and independence that was a gift from our martyrs, our veterans, our hero Turkish soldiers and freedom fighters. We will make sure it is handed over to future generations,” he added.
