Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, issued a statement on Monday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, describing it as one of the most glorious victories that changed the fate of the Turkish nation.

In his message, Töre said that the victory was of historic significance, not only because it opened the doors of Anatolia to the Turks but also because it ensured Anatolia would remain an eternal Turkish homeland.

“The foundations of a culture of coexistence, based on peace, tolerance, and love, which would continue for centuries on Anatolian soil, were laid with the victory at Manzikert. Following the victory, many subsequent triumphs on Anatolian soil have enabled the Republic of Türkiye to confidently continue its path as the great Turkish homeland,” he said.

He added that the spirit of the Battle of Manzikert strengthen the great Turkish nation against those with ill intentions towards the Turkish world and increases our determination to overcome every challenge we face.

“As part of the great Turkish world, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) moves forward towards the future with the strength and heritage of history, together with our motherland, Türkiye. I commemorate with gratitude and respect all the heroes of this great victory, especially the great commander Sultan Alp Arslan, who ensured Anatolia would become an eternal Turkish homeland. May their souls rest in peace…” he said.
